The literal translation of Dal Tadka is Dal=lentil and tadka=tempering.
Some make the dal extra spicy by adding lots of Now as these dal's are high in protein and fiber, they also cause bloating at times hence we temper them using spices.

- You need 1/4 cup of moong daal.
- Prepare 1/4 cup of masoor daal.
- It's 1/4 cup of Split moong dal.
- You need 1/4 cup of urad daal.
- You need 1/4 cup of chana daal.
- You need 1/2 cup of medium size onion.
- You need 3 of small size tomatoes.
- You need 3 of Tomato.
- It's 1/2 tsp of gratedginge.
- It's 1/2 teaspoon of green chilies.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of Green chilli.
- It's 5 tsp of ghee.
- You need 3/4 tsp of cumin seeds salt to taste.
- Prepare 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of chilli powder.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of Chilli powder.
- You need 1/2 tsp of coriander powder 1/2 tsp garam masala.
- You need 2 1/2 cup of water.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of garam masala.
Allow the steam to escape naturally before opening the lid. If Dal is still watery when you open pressure cooker, Cook it little more on slow heat without the lid. Make sure to stir it in between. Pour the hot tempering in the pressure cooked dal.

- Put daals in a pan and wash them properly. Then put these daals in a cooker and pour water over them. Put turmeric powder in cooker and mix it well. Pressure cook it. it takes 10-15 minutes to cook these daals in a cooker..
- Chop onions, tomatoes and green chillies. Grate ginger as well..
- Now heat ghee in a pan on medium to high flame. Once ghee is heated, put cumin seeds in oil and roast them well. After that put grated ginger in oil and roast it for 1/2 minute, then put chopped onions and chopped chillies in pan and cook them until medium brown in colour..
- Then put chopped tomatoes in pan and cook them well until a paste is formed. Put red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and coriander powder in paste and roast it well for 1 minute. After that put garam masala and roast it well also..
- After 15 minutes turn off the flame and let the pressure come out of it's own. Then put cooked daal over onion- tomato paste and mix it well. Add some water if needed and let 2-3 boils come. Tadka daal is ready to serve..
Mix it well and serve it in a big bowl. While dal is pressure cooking, I put the rice on another stove to cook. Mix well and mash the dal with back of the spoon little bit. Add kasoori methi leaves and mix well. Switch off and transfer to a serving bowl.
